Mr. W.G.S. Erandika Attorney-at-Law
National Youth Services Council
Volleyball is our national sport. It is with immense pride that we recollect the instances when this event has lifted up the name of Sri Lanka to the topmost position in national and international arenas before as well as after it was introduced as the national sport in this country.
This sport of Volleyball which was restricted to some specific regions in the past has today turned up to be so popular as to cover the entire land of Sri Lanka. The officers of the Volleyball Control Board and also the Volleyball players who were dedicated from the period of its commencement up to this moment to bring our national sport to such a proud position deserve our respectful and heartily tribute.
Today we have reached the modern chapter of the national sport of Sri Lanka. The nation is required to create an excellent generation of players equipped with comprehensive knowledge in international rules and regulations as well as technical knowledge associated with the Volleyball. You have entrusted to me, as one of the youngest Chairpersons ever elected to this post during the history of Volleyball Association, the responsibility of performing the mission of the era carried out by the chairpersons elected to this post in the past with due adjustments necessary for the present and I wish to state here that I will be dedicated to perform that responsibility entrusted to me with much faith, to my level best for the betterment of the national sport in Sri Lanka.
